“SOUTH AFRICA MY COUNTRY”
2010 ART COMPETITION
What has an Agapanthus, a street seller and a South African Flag in common?
They are all part of the forthcoming exhibition “South Africa My Country”.
On the 16th May 5 well known personalities on the art scene selected the work to be shown on this Exhibition – the outcome of the Art Competition run at the Art Place – to show the spirit or essence of South Africa. Very ably judged by Sheila Santilhano, Brent Record, Cheryl Curnick, Gordon Froud, & Marina Aguiar, all experienced teachers, lecturers and artists of many years standing.
The selected works will be on show from 5 June to 10 July (that is during the World Cup itself). They form a kaleidoscope of South African scenes and life. Many works are highly suitable to grace South African business premises.
<b>The OPENING – SUNDAY, 6TH JUNE 2010 at 3 p.m. is also PRIZE GIVING. Seven prizes have been sponsored by leading art material suppliers and a long established framer. The winners will be announced at the Opening and the Prizes handed out. So much suspense and excitement accompanies these announcements!
A special feature at the Opening will be the Gumboot Dancers and acappella Singers brought to us through Zithole Casting, Alexandra. They will certainly be another
facet of the kaleidoscope which is “South Africa My Country”.
